Why Sibling Portraits are One of the Most Important

We’re all familiar with the phrase, “Pick your battles,” right? Well, a frame-worthy sibling photo is a battle I will take up and spend an entire session after if that’s what it takes! When I’m “just a mama” on the other side of the lens, this is one of the most important shots of a session to my heart. Nothing is more important to us, as mamas, than our babies, and seeing them being sweet together is literally the best! In every gallery on my wall since Pierce was born, we have a sibling portrait. This is the shot that melts every mama’s heart! So why are sibling portraits one of the most important images of each family session?

  1. Like I said – nothing is more important than our babies, and having images of yours together is one of my highest priorities!
  2. These portraits make great anchors in a wall gallery or album, and are perfect accents for holiday cards.
  3. You will want to remember how your little ones interacted so sweetly together for years to come (or on those day’s when you’ve heard 507 tattling “MOM’s” before breakfast). Or heck, even your not-so-little ones! This is an important image with older children, teenagers, and adult children during extended family sessions!

They can take the form of camera-aware smiling together, kisses, or playing games. Over the years, these are often some of my favorite images from galleries. Keep scrolling to enjoy some sibling portraits!
