Okaloosa Island: Ford Milestone Session

My cheeks still hurt from laughing so much with this little guy on Tuesday evening! Oh, and his parents, too! 😉

We met on Okaloosa Island for Ford’s milestone session, and he greeted me with the biggest smiles! At just seven months old, his personality shines! He was intrigued by the sand…even trying to snag a couple of bites of it!

By the time we got down to the water, little man was kind of over it. Smiling no longer seemed appealing, even with his mommy and I putting forth our best efforts: dancing, tickles, and I even pulled out the Mickey Mouse Hot Dog song! Seriously, we were actin’ a fool to get a positive reaction, with no luck…and in strolls his daddy. With just a couple quick words, Ford was all smiles for him! Thinking we had the problem solved, his momma and I tried again with our list of tricks….and nothing. Worse now: tears. Back comes daddy…smiles galore. We found our secret weapon!

A few minutes later though, he was back to being a sad little man. Thinking our session was going to come to an early end, I asked if we wanted to try for his mom’s one request: naked baby beach bum. If he wasn’t having it, we would move on and pack up. So mom and dad proceeded with undressing him, using the precision required for undressing a seven-month-old on the beach (and for those of you unfamiliar with this process, you need the steady hands of a surgeon. Okay, not really. But it is hard to undress a baby on the beach without getting sand eeeeverywhere). So picture this: momma is holding him in the air while dad is undressing him, when off comes his diaper…and with it, poop. Poop everywhere. I honestly don’t think we stopped laughing for a solid minute, as we were all caught pretty off-guard by this surprise!

Once he was cleaned up, his mood was back to being cheery! I think if we just started off letting him be a naked beach bum, he would have been so much more impressed by us and our evening on the beach!

Robert, Jessica and Ford, you guys were a blast!! I hope the rest of your stay on the Emerald Coast is filled with as much fun and laughter as we shared on Tuesday!
