It’s fall y’all! If you’re like me, fall is one of my favorite seasons. The warm colors, the cozy sweaters, the delicious smells, and the family centered activities are all such amazing parts of this season. I can’t wait for fall festivals, pumpkin patches, hay rides, and trick-or-treating with my kiddos. And, obviously, for pumpkin spice everything! Fallen leaves may not be here in Florida, but the spirit of this season is abundant in our house. I’m excited to share some of my favorite fall finds with you in this blog post! Read on to get some inspiration to reset your home and wardrobe to get ready for this autumn season.
First up: fall fashion finds!
I’m loving these adorable, embroidered sweaters from Etsy! The southern charm of the monogrammed names combined with the classic woven material of the pieces makes me swoon! I know it’s not *quite* sweater weather here in Florida yet, but a girl can be prepared, right?! Your kiddos will steal the spotlight wearing these beautiful pieces in your next family portrait session.
The next thing in my cart are these versatile, everyday booties. The Marc Fisher classic booties reappear every year just like the fall season itself. The suede camel color is everything! Paired with jeans and cotton maxi dresses alike, you can’t go wrong stepping out into the crisp weather in these. (For a lower price, you can snag the Marc Fisher look-alike on Amazon here!)
And we can’t forget the guys! Your man will look so handsome and classy in this fresh take on the classic waffle knit shirt. I love Banana Republic for go-to grabs, and this one is even better because it’s currently 50% off! This modern textured shirt comes in a variety of flattering fall shades; I would recommend the blue shade for an updated twist on autumn colors for your family portraits this year.
Next up: fall finds for the home!
While I do love the classic orange pumpkins and warm colors that fall brings, this year I’m really drawn to a more modern color scheme: white and teal! I know it sounds crazy, but let me show you what I mean!
Pottery Barn has some beautiful fall decor this year, and I am simply obsessed with their website! It’s like shopping in the store, but comfier from the couch. They have lots of great options for vase fillers, including these beautiful, timeless wheat stalks. When paired with the fading eucalyptus branch, I love the nod to autumn while still maintaining that light and airy feel.
One of the best parts about fall has to be the textures. Sweaters with knitted patterns, leather boots and jackets, denim and corduroy- they all scream “touch and feel and be cozy!” Another favorite from PB is this awesome, oversized knitted throw blanket. It works well on dark leather couches and bright, light chairs alike. It also transitions to the winter months very well, as the oatmeal color would really look stunning next to an evergreen tree.
Another fun, unexpected texture you need to try this year is sheepskin! It is buttery soft and will look absolutely breathtaking on your sofa this fall in teal, cream, beige, and deep auburn colors. CB2 from Crate and Barrel has magnificent options, like this Mongolian sheepskin throw pillow. If you’re local, you simply MUST make a trip to 98 Cows in Destin/ Santa Rosa Beach! Walking among their impressive supply of cowhide rugs, sheepskin pillows and throws is an experience in itself. You’ll be sure to find a statement piece that completes your fall decorating plans beautifully.
Another trend I’m loving this year are glass pumpkins! West Elm has some beautiful options, my favorite being these smoky teal pumpkins that come in a variety of shapes and sizes. To bring some weight to these beautiful, ghostlike pieces of art, Magnolia Home has me swooning over these copper candlesticks.
If you’re on a budget this year, getting a few quality items is a great investment! Having one central fall display to showcase your favorite fall decor is the best way to keep things affordable while still looking high-end. Rather than spreading out lots of trinkets in every room, try focusing all the seasonal inspiration to one or two areas. Your fireplace, your entertainment center, or a magnificent centerpiece on your dining room table are great places to do this.
Another great way to save is by taking a trip to your local Hobby Lobby! While their decor options will likely only last for a season, you can stock up on simple essentials to fill in the gaps among your timeless, investment staple pieces. Grab some wooden beads and twine, and assemble a garland yourself, or better yet, turn it into a fun family craft! Take some inspiration from your favorite stores (like this stunning mango wood bead garland) and turn your dreams into reality! Your kids will love painting the beads, helping you thread them onto the twine, and what better way to make memories this season!
The final fall favorite I want to share with you is choosing a simmer pot instead of a candle this year! This is another fabulous opportunity to involve the kids, and by opting for chemical free fragrance sans candles, you’re taking another step in the direction of health for your family. Simply fill a pot with boiling water, then add fragrant Ingredients like cinnamon sticks, apple peels, orange rinds, cloves, apple juice, vanilla, and nutmeg. The intoxicating smells will inspire cozy feelings and warm hearts all season long.
Thanks for reading! I hope and pray that this season is full of joy and gratitude for you and your family, and I can’t wait to help preserve your family’s memories this season. Inquire to book your next session here!
